SurveyBarter
Ethics
SurveyBarter is a student labor exchange. Students complete each other’s surveys and are paid in points. There is no cash.
Who controls the answers
The owner of a survey is the controller of the answers collected on it.
A consent PDF is a record of agreement, not a qualified electronic signature.
What we store
SurveyBarter stores:
- account data: campus email, name, university, study level, field, country, and the points ledger
- the instruments students build
- answers
- a consent record for each person who signs. While that account is open, the record includes the full name they typed and how they signed: a drawing on the signature pad, or a confirmation of that typed name. A typed confirmation is not a drawing
In a seminar, the display name — first name, last initial, and university — is identifying. Completer emails are never shown. The typed full name and the signature live on that completer’s consent PDF, which the survey owner can download. Answers are a separate file. They are not placed in the consent PDF.
Submitting and closing an account
Participation is complete on submit. Cancelling before submit wipes the answers in progress and returns the hold. Closing an account removes identity. A settled response stays in the owner's results and file, without that participant's name, signature, or email. Points paid for settled work stay paid. On a swap this student already finished, if the classmate had not signed, that classmate keeps the response and can read it, and both bonds are returned.
Your data
From Account, a student can download the personal data that account holds and can close the account. Closing it removes the display name. On consents that student signed, the name and signature are removed. The survey owner keeps a record that consent was given, on what date, for which survey, and that the name and signature were removed at the participant's request. Surveys they own stay stored, including the answers. The legal names and signatures on those consent forms are removed. A mailbox that registers again after a deletion does not receive another starter grant. Ledger rows are kept.
Notices
Notices stay in the app. They name a survey and a classmate's display name when that page already shows it, and they never include an answer. Closing an account keeps those rows for the founder log and stops showing the closed name. A merge keeps showing the name on the account that stays.
